English Translation

Isma'il told us: Sa'id al-Jurayri told us, from Abu A'idh Sayf al-Sa'di—and he spoke well of him—from Yazid ibn al-Bara' ibn Azib, who was a governor in Oman and was like the best of governors, who said: My father said, "Gather together, and let me show you how the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform ablution and how he used to pray, for I do not know how much longer I will remain among you." He gathered his sons and family and called for water for ablution. He rinsed his mouth and nose, washed his face three times, washed his right hand three times, and washed this hand—meaning the left—three times, then wiped his head and his ears, their outer and inner parts, and washed this foot—meaning the right—three times, and washed this foot three times—meaning the left. He said, "This is how I have made every effort to show you how the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform ablution." Then he entered his house and prayed a prayer we do not know [the details of], then came out and ordered that the prayer be established, and it was established, and he led us in the noon prayer, and I think I heard some verses from Ya-Sin from him. Then he prayed the afternoon prayer, then he led us in the sunset prayer, then he led us in the night prayer, and he said, "I have made every effort to show you how the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform ablution and how he used to pray."
