حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَتَسْبِقُ أَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَتَهُمْ.
English Translation
Aswad b. Amir told us: Abu Bakr informed us, from Asim, from Khaythama, from al-Nu'man b. Bashir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best of people is my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them, then those who follow them; then there will come a people whose testimony precedes their oaths, and whose oaths precede their testimony."
