English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, who said: I heard Khalid narrating, from Yazid ibn Abdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir, from Mutarrif ibn al-Shikhkhir, from Iyad ibn Himar, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: Whoever finds a lost item, let him have it witnessed by two just persons or one just person - Khalid was uncertain - and let him not conceal it nor hide it away. If its owner comes, he has the greater right to it; otherwise it is wealth of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills. He said: I heard Yahya ibn Sa'id say: Mutarrif was twenty years older than al-Hasan, and Abu al-Ala' was ten years older than al-Hasan - a brother of Abu Bakr ibn al-Aswad narrated this to me, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Abu Aqil al-Dawraqi, with this account.
