حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ قَالَ لَمَّا بَعَثَ عَلِيٌّ عَمَّارًا وَالْحَسَنَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ لِيَسْتَنْفِرَاهُمْ فَخَطَبَ عَمَّارٌ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّهَا زَوْجَتُهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ابْتَلَاكُمْ لِتَتَّبِعُوهُ أَوْ إِيَّاهَا.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Hakam, who said: I heard Abu Wa'il say: When Ali sent Ammar and al-Hasan to Kufa to summon the people to march out, Ammar delivered a sermon and said: I know indeed that she (A'ishah) is his wife in this world and in the Hereafter, but Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has tested you to see whether you would follow him or her.
