English Translation

Yahya ibn Sa'id and Waki' told us, from Zakariyya — Waki' said: from Amir, and Yahya said in his hadith: Amir told me — who said: Adi ibn Hatim told us, who said: I asked the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, about hunting with the mi'rad (a blunt-edged throwing weapon), and he said, "What you strike with its sharp edge, eat; and what you strike with its flat side is only stunned game (do not eat it)." And I asked him about hunting with a dog. Waki' said: "If you release your dog and mention the name of God, then eat; and what it catches for you without eating from it, eat, for its seizing it is its slaughtering. And if you find another dog with your dog and fear that it caught the game together with it and killed it, do not eat, for you only mentioned God's name over your own dog, not over the other."
