English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq and Muhammad ibn Bakr told us, they said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, who said: Ibn Shihab told me, from the account of Abbad ibn Ziyad, that Urwah ibn al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah informed him that al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah informed him that he took part with the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, in the expedition of Tabuk. Al-Mughirah said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, went to relieve himself, and I carried a water-skin with him before the dawn prayer. When the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, returned to me, I began pouring water on his hands from the water-skin, and he washed his hands three times, then washed his face, then went to bring his cloak off his forearms, but the sleeves of his cloak were too tight, so he put his hands into the cloak until he brought his forearms out from beneath it, and washed his forearms up to the elbows, then wiped over his leather socks, then came forward. Al-Mughirah said: I came forward with him until we found the people had put forward Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf to lead them in prayer, and he caught one of the two rak'ahs. Abd al-Razzaq and Ibn Bakr said: He prayed the last rak'ah with the people. When Abd al-Rahman gave the salutation, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, stood to complete his prayer, which alarmed the Muslims, and they said "Subhan Allah" repeatedly. When the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, finished his prayer, he turned to them and said, "You have done well," or "you have acted rightly, pleasing them for praying the prayer at its proper time." Abd al-Razzaq told us, from Ibn Jurayj: Ibn Shihab told me, from Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'd, from Hamzah ibn al-Mughirah, similar to the hadith of Abbad. Al-Mughirah said: I wanted to hold back Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, but the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Leave him."
