English Translation
Abdul Muta'al ibn Abdul Wahhab told me, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Umawi told us, al-Mujalid told us from Amir who said: The sun was eclipsed in the forenoon until its darkness intensified. Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah stood and led the people in prayer. He stood for as long as it takes to recite a surah of the Mathani, then bowed similarly, then raised his head, then bowed similarly again, then raised his head, then stood similarly, then bowed a second time similarly. Then the sun became clear, so he prostrated, then stood for as long as it takes to recite a surah, then bowed and prostrated, then finished. He ascended the pulpit and said, "The sun was eclipsed on the day Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, died. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, stood and said: 'The sun and the moon are not eclipsed for the death of anyone; they are but two signs among the signs of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So when one of them is eclipsed, hasten to prayer.'" Then he came down and related that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while in prayer, began to blow in front of him, then he stretched out his hand as though reaching for something. When he finished, he said, "The Fire was brought close to me until I blew its heat away from my face, and I saw in it the owner of the crooked staff, and the one who slit the ears of the she-camel, and the woman of Himyar, the owner of the cat." Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Umawi told us: my father told me, al-Mujalid told us from Amir, similarly.
