حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ هُبَيْبَ بْنَ مُغْفِلٍ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَأَى رَجُلًا يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ خَلْفَهُ وَيَطَؤُهُ خُيَلَاءَ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ وَطِئَهُ مِنْ الْخُيَلَاءِ وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ.
English Translation
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Aslam, that he heard Hubayb ibn Mughaffal, a Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, seeing a man dragging his lower garment behind him and treading on it out of arrogance, and he said: 'Glory be to Allah, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever tramples it out of arrogance will be trampled in the Fire.'
