English Translation
Ali ibn Ayyash told us, Layth ibn Sa'd told us, Musa ibn Ali told us, from his father, from al-Mustawrid al-Fihri, who said to Amr ibn al-As: "The Hour will come while the Romans are the most numerous of people." Amr ibn al-As said to him, "Watch what you say." He said, "I only say to you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." Amr ibn al-As said, "If you did indeed say that, then there are four qualities in them: they are the quickest of people to recover after a defeat; they are the best of people to the destitute, the poor, and the weak; they are the most forbearing of people at the time of trial; and the fourth is good and fine — they are the most protective of people against the oppression of kings."
