English Translation
Muhammad ibn Salamah al-Harrani narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq — namely Muhammad — from Ubaydullah, or 'Ubayd Allah ibn Talhah ibn Kariz, from al-Hasan, who said: Uthman ibn Abi al-'As was invited to a circumcision feast, but he refused to respond. When he was asked about it, he said: 'We did not use to attend circumcisions in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, nor were we invited to them.'
