حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ ثَنَا رِشْدِينُ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَن أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ إِيمَانٌ بِاللَّهِ وَتَصْدِيقٌ وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَحَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ قَالَ الرَّجُلُ أَكْثَرْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلِينُ الْكَلَامِ وَبَذْلُ الطَّعَامِ وَسَمَاحٌ وَحُسْنُ خُلُقٍ قَالَ الرَّجُلُ أُرِيدُ كَلِمَةً وَاحِدَةً قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اذْهَبْ فَلَا تَتَّهِمِ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, he said: Rishdin narrated to us, saying: Musa ibn Ali narrated to me, from his father, from Amr ibn al-'As, who said: A man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best?' He said: 'Faith in Allah and belief in Him, and striving in the way of Allah, and an accepted pilgrimage.' The man said: 'You have said much, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Gentle speech, feeding others, generosity, and good character.' The man said: 'I want a single word.' The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: 'Go, and do not accuse Allah regarding yourself.'
