English Translation
'Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi told us, from Musa, from his father, from 'Amr b. al-'As, who said: "There was an alarm in Medina, so I came to Salim, the freedman of Abu Hudhayfa, while he was sitting wrapped in the strap of his sword; so I took a sword and sat wrapped in its strap. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O people, was your alarm not to be directed to Allah and to His Messenger?' Then he said: 'Would that you had done as these two believing men did.'"
