English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from Amr ibn Dinar, from a man of the people of Egypt narrating from Amr ibn al-As, that he said: Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr was taken captive and refused [to acknowledge protection]. He said: Amr kept questioning him, wishing that he would claim to have been granted safe conduct. Amr said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The lowest-ranking of the Muslims may grant protection on behalf of the Muslims."
