حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ قَالَ تَزَوَّجَ عَقِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَقُلْنَا بِالرِّفَاءِ وَالْبَنِينَ فَقَالَ مَهْ لَا تَقُولُوا ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَهَانَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ قُولُوا بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَهَا فِيكَ وَبَارَكَ لَكَ فِيهَا.
English Translation
When Aqil ibn Abi Talib got married, people came and said: 'With harmony and sons (bi al-rifa' wa al-banin)!' He said: 'Stop! Do not say that, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade us from saying that. Rather say: May Allah bless her for you and bless you for her.'
