English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, who said: I heard Abbad ibn Shurahbil - who was one of us, from Banu Ghubar - say: A year of hardship struck us, so I came to Madinah and entered one of its walled orchards. I took an ear of grain, rubbed it, ate from it, and carried some in my garment. Then the owner of the orchard came, struck me, and took my garment. I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said [to the man]: You did not teach him when he was ignorant, nor did you feed him when he was hungry. Then he returned my garment to me and ordered that I be given half a wasq, or a wasq, of grain.
