حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيَّ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي إِيَاسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ } قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { سَبِّحْ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى } قَالَ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ.
English Translation
Abu Abd al-Rahman told us, Musa — meaning Ibn Ayyub al-Ghafiqi — told us, my uncle Iyas ibn Amir told me, who said: I heard Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani say: When 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great' was revealed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to us: Say it in your bowing. And when 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' was revealed, he said: Say it in your prostration.
