حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُكْرُونَ الْأَرْضَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَا يُنْبِتُ عَلَى الْأَرْبِعَاءِ وَشَيْئًا مِنْ الزَّرْعِ يَسْتَثْنِيهِ صَاحِبُ الزَّرْعِ فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ لِرَافِعٍ كَيْفَ كِرَاؤُهَا بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ فَقَالَ رَافِعٌ لَيْسَ بِهَا بَأْسٌ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ.
English Translation
Yunus narrated to us: Layth narrated to us, from Rabi'a b. Abi Abd al-Rahman, from Hanzala b. Qays, from Rafi' b. Khadij, that he said: "My uncle narrated to me that they used to lease land in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in exchange for what grew along the watercourses, and a portion of the crop which the owner of the crop would stipulate for himself; so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that." I said to Rafi': "What about leasing it for dinars and dirhams?" Rafi' said: "There is no harm in it, for dinars and dirhams."
