English Translation
Khalaf ibn al-Walid said: Ibn 'Ayyash, that is Isma'il, narrated to us from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar and others from Abu Hariz, the freedman of Mu'awiya, who said: Mu'awiya delivered a sermon to the people at Hims, and mentioned in his sermon that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade seven things, and that he was conveying that to them and forbidding them from it: among them, wailing over the dead, poetry, images, women's ostentatious display of adornment, the skins of wild beasts, gold, and silk.
