English Translation
Yunus narrated to us: Layth, that is ibn Sa'd, narrated to us from Muhammad, that is ibn 'Ajlan, from Muhammad ibn Yusuf, the freedman of 'Uthman, from his father Yusuf, from Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan: that he led them in prayer, and he rose to stand in the prayer while he ought to have been sitting, so the people said 'subhan Allah' to alert him, but he continued in his standing; then we prostrated two prostrations while seated, after he had completed the prayer. Then he sat upon the pulpit and said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Whoever forgets something of his prayer, let him prostrate like these two prostrations.'
