حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْحِمْصِيُّ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمِقْدَامِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ الصَّائِفَةَ فَقَرِمَ أَصْحَابِي إِلَى اللَّحْمِ فَقَالُوا أَتَأْذَنُ لَنَا أَنْ نَذْبَحَ رَمْكَةً لَهُ قَالَ فَحَبَلُوهَا فَقُلْتُ مَكَانَكُمْ حَتَّى آتِيَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَأَسْأَلَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ خَبَرَ أَصْحَابِي فَقَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةَ خَيْبَرَ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي حَظَائِرِ يَهُودَ فَقَالَ يَا خَالِدُ نَادِ فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ جَامِعَةٌ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مُسْلِمٌ فَفَعَلْتُ فَقَامَ فِي النَّاسِ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَا بَالُكُمْ أَسْرَعْتُمْ فِي حَظَائِرِ يَهُودَ أَلَا لَا تَحِلُّ أَمْوَالُ الْمُعَاهَدِينَ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا وَحَرَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ حُمُرُ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ وَالْإِنْسِيَّةِ وَخَيْلُهَا وَبِغَالُهَا وَكُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ وَكُلُّ ذِي مِخْلَبٍ مِنْ الطَّيْرِ.
English Translation
Ali ibn Bahr told us: Muhammad ibn Harb al-Khawlani told us: Abu Salamah al-Himsi told us, from Salih ibn Yahya ibn al-Miqdam, from Ibn al-Miqdam, from his grandfather al-Miqdam ibn Ma'dikarib, who said: I went on a summer campaign with Khalid ibn al-Walid, and my companions craved meat and said: Will you permit us to slaughter a mare of his? He said: So they hobbled it, and I said: Stay where you are until I go to Khalid ibn al-Walid and ask him about that. So I went to him and told him the news of my companions. He said: I went on campaign with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the campaign of Khaybar, and the people rushed hastily into the enclosures of the Jews, so he said: O Khalid, announce among the people that the prayer is to be held in congregation, and only a Muslim shall enter Paradise. So I did, and he stood among the people and said: O people, what is the matter that you rushed hastily into the enclosures of the Jews? Indeed, the property of those under covenant is not lawful except by right, and forbidden to you are the domestic and tame donkeys, and their horses and mules, and every beast of prey with fangs, and every bird with talons.
