قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي نَعَامَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُغَفَّلٍ سَمِعَ ابْنًا لَهُ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْفِرْدَوْسَ وَكَذَا وَأَسْأَلُكَ كَذَا فَقَالَ أَيْ بُنَيَّ سَلْ اللَّهَ الْجَنَّةَ وَتَعَوَّذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ النَّارِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَكُونُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ قَوْمٌ يَعْتَدُونَ فِي الدُّعَاءِ وَالطَّهُورِ.
English Translation
He said: Yazid ibn Harun told us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from Yazid al-Raqashi, from Abu Nu'amah, that Abdullah ibn Mughaffal heard a son of his say: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise Firdaws and such-and-such, and I ask You for such-and-such. He said: O my son, ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge in Allah from the Fire, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: There will be, among this community, people who transgress in supplication and in purification.
