قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ بَعْضَ إِخْوَتِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي فِدَاءِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي فِدَاءِ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَمَا أَسْلَمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِالطُّورِ قَالَ فَكَأَنَّمَا صُدِعَ قَلْبِي حَيْثُ سَمِعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا صُدِعَ قَلْبِي حِينَ سَمِعْتُ الْقُرْآنَ.
English Translation
He said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Bahz told us, they said: Shu'bah told us, from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim, who said: I heard one of my brothers narrate, from my father, from Jubayr ibn Mut'im, that he came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding the ransom of the polytheists - and Bahz said: regarding the ransom of the people of Badr - and Muhammad ibn Ja'far said: and he had not yet become Muslim at that time. He said: I came to him while he was praying the sunset prayer, reciting Surat al-Tur in it, and it was as though my heart was split open when I heard the Qur'an - and Bahz said in his narration: it was as though my heart was split open when I heard the Qur'an.
