حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَارُنَا قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ الْأَثْرَمُ الْبَصْرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْقَارِئُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ امْدُدْ يَدَكَ أُبَايِعْكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ قَالَ ضِرَارٌ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ تَرَكْتُ الْقِدَاحَ وَعَزْفَ الْقِيَانِ وَالْخَمْرَ تَصْلِيَةً وَابْتِهَالَا وَكَرِّي الْمُحَبَّرَ فِي غَمْرَةٍ وَحَمْلِي عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْقِتَالَا فَيَا رَبِّ لَا أُغْبَنَنْ صَفْقَتِي فَقَدْ بِعْتُ مَالِي وَأَهْلِي ابْتِدَالَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا غُبِنَتْ صَفْقَتُكَ يَا ضِرَارُ.
English Translation
'Abdullah narrated to us: Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah, our neighbor, narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Bahili al-Athram al-Basri narrated to us, he said: Sallam ibn Sulayman al-Qari' narrated to us, he said: 'Asim ibn Bahdalah narrated to us, from Abu Wa'il, from Dirar ibn al-Azwar, who said: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, "Extend your hand, that I may pledge allegiance to you upon Islam." Dirar said: Then I said: "I have left the divining arrows, and the singing of songstresses, and wine, in devotion and humble supplication, and my galloping the dappled horse in the thick of battle, and my charging against the polytheists in combat. So, my Lord, let me not be cheated in my bargain, for I have sold my wealth and my family in exchange." The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Your bargain has not been cheated, O Dirar."
