English Translation

He said: Muhammad ibn Bakr al-Bursani narrated to us, he said: 'Ubaydullah ibn Abi Ziyad informed us, he said: 'Abdullah ibn Kathir al-Dari narrated to me, from Mujahid, who said: An old man who had witnessed the pre-Islamic era, called Ibn 'Abs, narrated to us -- and this was during the expedition of Rhodes -- he said: I was driving a cow belonging to some kinsfolk of ours. He said: Then I heard from inside it, "O family of Dharih, an eloquent utterance: a man cries out, 'There is no god but God!'" He said: So we came to Mecca, and found that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had already emerged with his mission at Mecca.
