قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ خَالِهِ مُسَافِعٍ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ أُمِّ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَتْ أَخْبَرَتْنِي امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ وَلَدَتْ عَامَّةَ أَهْلِ دَارِنَا أَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً إِنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ لِمَ دَعَاكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ قَرْنَيْ الْكَبْشِ حِينَ دَخَلْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَنَسِيتُ أَنْ آمُرَكَ أَنْ تُخَمِّرَهُمَا فَخَمِّرْهُمَا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي الْبَيْتِ شَيْءٌ يَشْغَلُ الْمُصَلِّيَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لَمْ تَزَلْ قَرْنَا الْكَبْشِ فِي الْبَيْتِ حَتَّى احْتَرَقَ الْبَيْتُ فَاحْتَرَقَا.
English Translation
Sufyan told us: Mansur told me, from his maternal uncle Musafi', from Safiyyah bint Shaybah, mother of Mansur, who said: A woman from Banu Sulaym, who had given birth to most of the people of our household, told me: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent for 'Uthman ibn Talhah - and she said another time that she had asked 'Uthman ibn Talhah, "Why did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, call you?" He said, "I had seen the two horns of the ram when I entered the House, and I forgot to instruct you to cover them, so cover them, for it is not fitting that there be anything in the House that distracts the one who is praying." Sufyan said: The two horns of the ram remained in the House until the House burned down, and they burned with it.
