قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ هُوَ الْعَطَّارُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمَنْحَرِ وَرَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَهُوَ يَقْسِمُ أَضَاحِيَّ فَلَمْ يُصِبْهُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ وَلَا صَاحِبَهُ فَحَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ فِي ثَوْبِهِ فَأَعْطَاهُ فَقَسَمَ مِنْهُ عَلَى رِجَالٍ وَقَلَّمَ أَظْفَارَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ صَاحِبَهُ قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ لَعِنْدَنَا مَخْضُوبٌ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ يَعْنِي شَعْرَهُ.
English Translation
He said: 'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, who said: Aban - he is al-'Attar - narrated to us, who said: Yahya - meaning Ibn Abi Kathir - narrated to us, from Abu Salamah, from Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn Zayd, that his father told him that he witnessed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, at the sacrificial place, along with a man from Quraysh, while he was distributing sacrificial animals. Neither he nor his companion received any of it, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, shaved his head into his garment and gave it to him; he distributed some of it among men, and clipped his nails and gave them to his companion. He said: It is still with us, dyed with henna and katam - meaning his hair.
