قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ الصَّعْبِ بْنِ جَثَّامَةَ قَالَ مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا بِالْأَبْوَاءِ فَأَهْدَيْتُ لَهُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَيَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْكَرَاهِيَةَ فِي وَجْهِي قَالَ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِنَا رَدٌّ عَلَيْكَ وَلَكِنَّا حُرُمٌ.
English Translation
He said: Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar told us, from al-Zuhri, from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah, from Ibn Abbas, from al-Sa'b ibn Jaththama, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by me while I was at al-Abwa', and I gave him a gift of an onager, and he returned it to me. When he saw the displeasure on my face, he said: "It is not that we return it upon you, but we are in the sacred state."
