English Translation
He said: 'Abd al-Samad told us: Mulazim ibn 'Amr al-Suhaymi told us: Siraj ibn 'Uqbah told us, from his paternal aunt Khaldah bint Talq, who said: My father Talq told me that he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when Sahhar of 'Abd al-Qays came and said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say of a drink we make in our land from our fruits? The Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, turned away from him until he had asked three times, until he stood and prayed. When he finished his prayer, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Where is the one asking about intoxicants? Do not drink it and do not give it to your Muslim brother to drink, for by the One in whose hand is my soul — or as He who is sworn by — no man drinks it seeking the pleasure of its intoxication but Allah will give him to drink of the fire on the Day of Resurrection.
