حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ قَالَ قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ جَاءَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَصَابَنَا قَرْحٌ وَجَهْدٌ فَكَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنَا قَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَاجْعَلُوا الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ قَالُوا فَأَيُّهُمْ نُقَدِّمُ قَالَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا قَالَ فَقُدِّمَ أَبِي عَامِرٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلٍ أَوْ اثْنَيْنِ.
English Translation
Bahz told us: Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah told us: Humayd ibn Hilal told us: Hisham ibn 'Amir said: The Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the Day of Uhud and said: O Messenger of Allah, wounds and hardship have befallen us, so what do you command us? He said: Dig graves, make them wide, and put two or three men in one grave. They said: Then which of them shall we put forward first? He said: Whichever of them has the most Qur'an. He said: So my father 'Amir was put forward ahead of one or two men.
