حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ آخَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ قُتِلَ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ مَاتَ الْآخَرُ فَصَلَّوْا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا قُلْتُمْ قَالَ قُلْنَا اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْهُ اللَّهُمَّ أَلْحِقْهُ بِصَاحِبِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَيْنَ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدَ صَلَاتِهِ وَأَيْنَ صِيَامُهُ أَوْ عَمَلُهُ بَعْدَ عَمَلِهِ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا أَبْعَدُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ.
English Translation
Abu al-Nadr told us, he said: Shu'bah told us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, who said: I heard 'Amr ibn Maymun narrating from 'Abdullah ibn Rabi'ah al-Sulami, from 'Ubayd ibn Khalid al-Sulami — who was one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him — he said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made two men brothers; one of them was killed during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then the other died, and they performed the funeral prayer over him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "What did you say?" He said: We said, "O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him. O Allah, join him with his companion." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Then where is his prayer compared to his companion's prayer, and where is his fasting, or his deeds, compared to his companion's deeds? Between them is a distance greater than what is between the heaven and the earth."
