قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنُو عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ بَنُو الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ بَنُو سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ خَيْرُ دِيَارِ الْأَنْصَارِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
English Translation
He said: Waki' told us: Sufyan told us, from Abu al-Zinad, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Usayd, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'The best of the Ansar are Banu al-Najjar, then Banu Abd al-Ashhal, then Banu al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj, then Banu Sa'idah, and in all of the Ansar there is good.' Abu Sa'id, the freedman of Banu Hashim, told us: Harb — that is, Ibn Shaddad — told us: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir told us, from Abu Salamah, that he heard Abu Usayd say that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, 'The best of the clans of the Ansar...' and he related the hadith.
