English Translation
Yazid b. Harun narrated to us: Hammam b. Yahya informed us, from al-Qasim b. Abd al-Wahid al-Makki, from Abdullah b. Muhammad b. Aqil, that he heard Jabir b. Abdullah say: A hadith reached me from a man who heard it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so I bought a camel and put my saddle upon it, and traveled a month until I arrived at him in Syria. There was Abdullah b. Unays, so I said to the doorman, "Tell him Jabir is at the door." He said, "Jabir son of Abdullah?" I said, "Yes." So he came out, treading on his garment in haste, and embraced me and I embraced him. I said, "Tell me the hadith that reached me from you, that you heard it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning retribution, for I feared you would die, or I would die, before I heard it from you." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "The people" — or he said, "the servants" — "will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection naked, uncircumcised, having nothing." We said, "What is meant by 'having nothing'?" He said, "Having nothing with them." Then He will call out to them in a voice heard from near and far: "I am the King, I am the Judge; it is not fitting that anyone from the people of the Fire enter the Fire while someone from the people of Paradise has a claim against him, until I have exacted it from him; and it is not fitting that anyone from the people of Paradise enter Paradise while someone from the people of the Fire has a claim against him, until I have exacted it from him — even for a slap." We said, "How can that be, when we come to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, naked, uncircumcised, having nothing?" He said, "Through good deeds and bad deeds."
