حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الزِّنَادِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَنْظَلَةُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ وَرَهْطًا مَعَهُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ عُذْرَةَ فَقَالَ إِنْ قَدَرْتُمْ عَلَى فُلَانٍ فَأَحْرِقُوهُ بِالنَّارِ فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّى إِذَا تَوَارَوْا مِنْهُ نَادَاهُمْ أَوْ أَرْسَلَ فِي أَثَرِهِمْ فَرَدُّوهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ قَدَرْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ وَلَا تُحْرِقُوهُ بِالنَّارِ فَإِنَّمَا يُعَذِّبُ بِالنَّارِ رَبُّ النَّارِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا زِيَادٌ أَنَّ أَبَا الزِّنَادِ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَنْظَلَةُ بْنُ عَلَيٍّ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيَّ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ وَرَهْطًا مَعَهُ سَرِيَّةً إِلَى رَجُلٍ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
English Translation
Muhammad b. Bakr narrated to us: Ibn Jurayj informed us: Ziyad — that is Ibn Sa'd — informed me, that Abu al-Zinad said: Hanzalah b. Ali informed me, from Hamzah b. Amr al-Aslami, Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who told him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent him and a group with him to a man of Udhrah, and said, "If you overpower So-and-so, burn him with fire." They set off, and when they had gone out of sight of him, he called out to them, or sent someone after them, and they brought them back; then he said, "If you overpower him, kill him, but do not burn him with fire, for only the Lord of the Fire punishes with fire." Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us: Ibn Jurayj informed us: Ziyad informed us, that Abu al-Zinad informed him: Hanzalah b. Ali al-Aslami informed me, that Hamzah b. Amr al-Aslami, Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent him and a group with him on an expedition to a man, and he related the same meaning.
