Abdullah b. Muhammad b. Abi Shaybah narrated to us — Abdullah said: and I myself also heard it from Abdullah b. Muhammad b. Abi Shaybah — he said: Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Ata' b. al-Sa'ib, who said: A group of the people of Basrah testified before me, among them al-Hasan b. Abi al-Hasan, from Ma'qil b. Sinan, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by him while he was having himself cupped on the eighteenth of the month, and said: "Both the one who cups and the one who is cupped have broken their fast."
