English Translation
Sa'd reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came one day from al-Aliyah, and when he passed by the mosque of Banu Mu'awiyah, he entered and prayed two rak'ahs. We prayed with him, and he supplicated to his Lord for a long time. Then he turned to us and said: 'I asked my Lord for three things. He gave me two and withheld one. I asked my Lord not to destroy my Ummah by famine, and He granted it. I asked Him not to destroy my Ummah by drowning, and He granted it. And I asked Him not to let them fight among themselves, but He refused.'
