حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ هُبَيْبَ بْنَ مُغْفِلٍ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَأَى رَجُلًا يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ خَلْفَهُ وَيَطَؤُهُ فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ وَطِئَهُ مِنْ الْخُيَلَاءِ وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ.
English Translation
Hubayb ibn Mughfil, a Companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), saw a man dragging his cloak behind him and stepping on it. He said: 'Glory be to Allah! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Whoever drags it out of pride will be dragged into the Fire.'
