قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْعَطَّافُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ غَزْوَةٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا وَرَوْحَةٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا وَمَوْضِعُ سَوْطٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا.
English Translation
Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: An expedition in the cause of Allah is better than the world and all that is in it, and an evening journey in the cause of Allah is better than the world and all that is in it, and the space of a whip in Paradise is better than the world and all that is in it.'
