English Translation
Abd al-Malik ibn Amr and Surayj told us - the meaning being the same - they said: Nafi' ibn Umar told us, from Umayyah ibn Safwan, from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Zuhayr - my father said: both of them said - from Abu Bakr ibn Abi Zuhayr al-Thaqafi, from his father, who said: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say at al-Naba'ah or al-Nibawah - Nafi' was uncertain - near al-Ta'if, saying: "O people, you will soon come to recognize the people of Paradise from the people of the Fire" - or he said "your best from your worst." A man among the people said: "By what, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "By good report and bad report; you are witnesses of Allah, one over another."
