حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى قَالَ مَا مِنْ غَدَاءٍ أَوْ عَشَاءٍ شَكَّ طَلْحَةُ قَالَ فَأَخْرَجُوا فَلْقًا مِنْ خُبْزٍ قَالَ مَا مِنْ أُدْمٍ قَالُوا لَا إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلٍّ قَالَ أَدْنِيهِ فَإِنَّ الْخَلَّ نِعْمَ الْأُدْمُ هُوَ قَالَ جَابِرٌ مَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّ الْخَلَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ و قَالَ طَلْحَةُ مَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّ الْخَلَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ جَابِرٍ.
English Translation
Bahz told us, al-Muthanna ibn Sa'id told us, Talhah ibn Nafi told us, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took him by the hand to his house. When he arrived there, he said, "Is there any lunch or dinner?" — Talhah was uncertain which word was used. He said: So they brought out pieces of bread. He said, "Is there any condiment?" They said, "No, only some vinegar." He said, "Bring it close, for vinegar is an excellent condiment." Jabir said: "I have never ceased to love vinegar since I heard this from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him." And Talhah said: "I have never ceased to love vinegar since I heard it from Jabir."
