English Translation
Yazid told us, Hajjaj, that is Ibn Abi Zaynab, informed us, he said: I heard Talha ibn Nafi' Abu Sufyan say: I heard Jabir ibn 'Abdullah say: I was in the shade of my house when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by me. When I saw him, I jumped up to him and began walking behind him. He said, "Come closer," so I drew near him, and he took my hand, and we went on until he came to one of the apartments of his wives — Umm Salama or Zaynab bint Jahsh. He entered, then gave me permission, and I entered, with the screen drawn over her. He said, "Do you have any food?" They said, "Yes," and three loaves of bread were brought and placed on a piece of leather. He said, "Do you have any seasoning?" They said, "No, only some vinegar." He said, "Bring it," so they brought it to him. He took a loaf and placed it before himself, and a loaf before me, and broke the third one in two, placing half before himself and half before me.
