حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ ابْتَنَى دَارًا فَأَكْمَلَهَا وَأَحْسَنَهَا إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَيَعْجَبُونَ وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَا مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَنَا مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ جِئْتُ فَخَتَمْتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ.
English Translation
Affan told us, Salim ibn Hayyan told us, Sa'id ibn Mina told us, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: My likeness and the likeness of the prophets is that of a man who built a house and completed and perfected it except for the place of one brick. People began entering it and marveling, saying, If only for the place of the brick! The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I am the place of that brick - I have come and sealed the line of prophets.
