حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ هَذَا السُّورِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَطَلَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فَهَنَّأْنَاهُ بِمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ لَبِثَ هُنَيْهَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ هَذَا السُّورِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ فَطَلَعَ عُمَرُ قَالَ فَهَنَّأْنَاهُ بِمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَطْلُعُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ تَحْتِ هَذَا السُّورِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ شِئْتَ جَعَلْتَهُ عَلِيًّا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَطَلَعَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ.
English Translation
Ibrahim ibn Abi al-Abbas told us, Abu al-Malih told us, Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil ibn Abi Talib told us, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A man of the people of Paradise will appear to you from beneath this wall." Then Abu Bakr, may Allah's pleasure be upon him, appeared, so we congratulated him on what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had said. Then he waited a while and said: "A man of the people of Paradise will appear to you from beneath this wall." Then Umar appeared, so we congratulated him on what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had said. Then he said: "A man of the people of Paradise will appear to you from beneath this wall - O Allah, if You will, let it be Ali" - three times - and then Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, appeared.
