حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا فُتِحَتْ حُنَيْنٌ بَعَثَ سَرَايَا فَأَتَوْا بِالْإِبِلِ وَالشَّاءِ فَقَسَمَهَا فِي قُرَيْشٍ قَالَ فَوَجَدْنَا أَيُّهَا الْأَنْصَارُ عَلَيْهِ فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ فَجَمَعَنَا فَخَطَبَنَا فَقَالَ أَلَا تَرْضَوْنَ أَنَّكُمْ أُعْطِيتُمْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَاللَّهِ لَوْ سَلَكَتْ النَّاسُ وَادِيًا وَسَلَكْتُمْ شِعْبًا لَاتَّبَعْتُ شِعْبَكُمْ قَالُوا رَضِينَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ.
English Translation
Musa told us, Ibn Lahi'ah told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah, that when Hunayn was conquered, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent out raiding parties who brought camels and sheep, and he distributed them among Quraysh. He said: we, the Ansar, felt aggrieved by this, and it reached him. So he gathered us and addressed us, saying, "Are you not content that you were given the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while others were given goods? By Allah, if the people took one valley and you took a mountain pass, I would follow your pass." They said, "We are content, O Messenger of Allah."
