حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ زَمَانٌ يَنْطَلِقُ النَّاسُ فِيهَا إِلَى الْآفَاقِ يَلْتَمِسُونَ الرَّخَاءَ فَيَجِدُونَ رَخَاءً ثُمَّ يَأْتُونَ فَيَتَحَمَّلُونَ بِأَهْلِيهِمْ إِلَى الرَّخَاءِ وَالْمَدِينَةُ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ.
English Translation
Hasan told us, Ibn Lahi'ah told us, Abu al-Zubayr told us: Jabir ibn 'Abdullah informed me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "A time will surely come upon Medina when people will set out to distant lands seeking ease of living, and they will find ease; then they will come and move their families to that ease of living - yet Medina would be better for them, if only they knew."
