English Translation
Hasan told us, Ibn Lahi'ah told us, Abu al-Zubayr told us, from Jabir, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "If I live, Allah willing, I will forbid naming children Barakah, Yasar, and Nafi'." Jabir said: I do not know whether he also mentioned Rafi' or not. It happened that someone would say, "Is Barakah here?" and it would be said, "No"; and someone would say, "Is Yasar here?" and it would be said, "No." He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away without having forbidden that. 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, wanted to forbid it, then he left it be.
