حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ الصَّوَّافِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَمْسِكُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَمْوَالَكُمْ وَلَا تُعْمِرُوهَا فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ أُعْمِرَ شَيْئًا حَيَاتَهُ فَهُوَ لَهُ حَيَاتَهُ وَمَوْتَهُ.
English Translation
Isma'il told us, from al-Hajjaj al-Sawwaf, from Abu al-Zubayr - if Allah wills - from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O assembly of the Ansar, keep hold of your properties and do not grant them as life-tenancies (umra), for whoever is granted something as a life-tenancy, it belongs to him for his life and after his death."
