حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ح وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ح وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ تَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي فَلَا يَتَكَنَّى بِكُنْيَتِي وَمَنْ تَكَنَّى بِكُنْيَتِي فَلَا يَتَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي.
English Translation
Isma'il, that is Ibn Ulayyah, told us, Hisham told us — and Abd al-Samad told us, Hisham told us — and Kathir ibn Hisham told us, Hisham told us — from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever names himself with my name, let him not adopt my byname; and whoever adopts my byname, let him not name himself with my name."
