حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْعُمْرَى جَائِزَةٌ لِأَهْلِهَا وَالرُّقْبَى جَائِزَةٌ لِأَهْلِهَا.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The most compassionate of my ummah toward it is Abu Bakr; the strongest in the religion of Allah is Umar; the most genuinely modest is Uthman ibn Affan; the best judge is Ali ibn Abi Talib; the most knowledgeable of the Quran is Ubayy ibn Ka'b; the most knowledgeable of halal and haram is Mu'adh ibn Jabal; the most knowledgeable in the laws of inheritance is Zayd ibn Thabit. Every ummah has a trustworthy one, and the trustworthy one of this ummah is Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah.'
