English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) visited a sick man and said: 'Did you used to make a particular supplication?' The man said: 'I used to say: O Allah, bring forward for me in this world what You were going to punish me with in the Hereafter.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Subhan Allah, you cannot bear it. Why did you not say: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhab-annar (Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire)?' He made this supplication and Allah healed him.
