حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام وَهُوَ يَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ فَأَخَذَهُ فَصَرَعَهُ فَشَقَّ عَنْ قَلْبِهِ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِنْهُ عَلَقَةً فَقَالَ هَذَا حَظُّ الشَّيْطَانِ مِنْكَ ثُمَّ غَسَلَهُ فِي طَسْتٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ بِمَاءِ زَمْزَمَ ثُمَّ لَأَمَهُ وَأَعَادَهُ فِي مَكَانِهِ وَجَاءَ الْغِلْمَانُ يَسْعَوْنَ إِلَى أُمِّهِ يَعْنِي ظِئْرِهِ فَقَالُوا إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا قَدْ قُتِلَ فَاسْتَقْبَلُوهُ وَهُوَ مُنْتَقِعُ اللَّوْنِ قَالَ لِي أَنَسٌ فَكُنْتُ أَرَى أَثَرَ الْمِخْيَطِ فِي صَدْرِهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ حَمَّادٌ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُ آتٍ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'There will be dissension, strife, and division among my ummah. Some people will come whose speech is admirable but whose deeds are reprehensible. They recite the Quran, but it does not pass beyond their collarbones. They will pass through the religion as an arrow passes through its target. They will not return to it until an arrow returns to its notch. They are the worst of creation and creatures. Blessed is the one who fights them and whom they kill. They call to the Book of Allah but have nothing to do with it. Whoever fights them is closer to Allah than they are.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is their distinguishing sign?' He said: 'Shaved heads.'
